The alumni-chapter road-trip business, explained
Villanova sits in the middle of the Main Line — one of the densest concentrations of alumni, active students, and fan-club membership in the Big East. Basketball is the marquee sport, and every winter Saturday from December through March, our fleet runs alumni-chapter charters, student groups, and family fan buses to Big East road games. Georgetown at McDonough Arena in DC (~2.5 hrs) is a routine day-trip; St. John's at Madison Square Garden (~2 hrs) is one of the biggest fan-bus generators on the schedule. Xavier at the Cintas Center (Cincinnati), Marquette at Fiserv Forum (Milwaukee), Creighton at CHI Health Center (Omaha), and the annual Connecticut trips (Hartford XL Center or Storrs Gampel Pavilion) are overnight or fly-in trips. Then there's the March pilgrimage — when the tournament seeding drops, we get the calls: 'What's it cost to get 40 alumni to Cleveland this Thursday?' Follow-your-team NCAA travel is one of our fastest-turnaround charter categories.

Which vehicle for your fan-bus trip
Right-sized fleet for every Wildcats away-game group configuration:

40-56 Passenger Motor Coach
Standard Villanova alumni chapter ride. Reclining seats, restroom, under-coach storage. Perfect for a 45-50 person Main Line alumni group heading to the Big East Tournament at MSG or a Georgetown road game.

24-32 Passenger Mini-Coach
Right-sized for a Villanova student group organizing a road trip, or a smaller alumni chapter charter. Fits neatly in urban arena bus lots (DC, NYC, Milwaukee).

20-40 Passenger Party Bus
For the fan group who wants tailgate energy on the ride down — cooler bars, LED lighting, premium sound. Common for Georgetown road games where DC-based Wildcat alumni meet up post-game.

10-14 Passenger Sprinter Van
VIP transport for a small alumni group, season-ticket-holder foursome, or NCAA Tournament follow-your-team crew of 8-12. Mercedes Sprinter with high-back leather captain's chairs and USB at every seat.
Day-trip vs overnight — when does each make sense?
The rule of thumb: if the away venue is within a 3-hour one-way drive, we run it as a day trip. Pickup 3-4 hours before kickoff/tip-off, tailgate on-site, game, then curbside post-game pickup and back to Philly by midnight. Comfortable in a motor coach or mini-coach; a party bus works too for a shorter distance.
Beyond 3 hours one-way, we typically build an overnight package: coach leaves Philly on Friday, hotel block at the destination Friday night, tailgate + game Saturday, hotel Saturday night, back to Philly Sunday. This is the standard for Big Ten road trips (Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin), long CAA trips (William & Mary, Northeastern), and any playoff/bowl-game destination. For anything 8+ hours or across the country, we shift to a fly-in configuration — your group flies commercial and we coordinate with partner operators at the destination airport for airport-to-stadium ground shuttle and back.
Tailgate + game-day flow
Pickup: 3-4 hours before kickoff/tip-off for a full tailgate window. For a 1pm start, that's typically 8:30-9:00am from Philly. Your group boards the coach with tailgate gear, coolers, food, portable grills; we load everything into the under-coach storage.
On the road: reclining seats, restroom, Wi-Fi, USB charging at every seat, premium sound if you booked a party bus. Your driver has the route, the lot assignment, and the gate number for the visiting-team bus lot.
At the venue: we drop your group at the tailgate lot, park in the designated bus zone, and your chauffeur stays with the vehicle in the driver lounge or the bus lot. The tailgate spread sets up on the party bus itself (perimeter seating doubles as bench space) or on the pavement next to the coach.
Post-game: chauffeur is staged at the designated curbside pickup zone before your group even reaches the gate — they've tracked the final seconds via app and are ready. Post-game crowd flow typically adds 15-30 minutes to the total pickup window.
Alumni chapter partnerships & recurring bookings
The biggest recurring customer segment for Wildcats away-game charters is alumni chapters. If your Philadelphia-area Wildcats alumni chapter books 3+ road games per season, we set up a season-long partnership: locked-in per-trip pricing (discounted vs one-off booking), dedicated coach and driver who know your pickup logistics, single point-of-contact at our dispatch, and priority booking for the marquee games (rivalry weekends, playoff/bowl trips, tournament weeks) that fill up early.
Common alumni chapter configurations: 40-56 passenger motor coach for the full-chapter trip, mini-coach for smaller chapters or officers-only games, party bus for a Big 6 in-city rivalry, Sprinter for a suite-level or hospitality-level executive trip. Ask about our chapter-partner pricing when you inquire — we build the season contract before the schedule drops.

Booking timeline
Book by mid-October for the December-March basketball season; NCAA Tournament trips reserve 48 hours after the selection show. Playoff / tournament / bowl-game trips are booked on 24-72 hour turnarounds after the seeding or matchup is announced — the earlier you book after the announcement, the better your seat price and hotel-block availability.
The general rule: rivalry-week and playoff games fill our fleet 3-4 months out; regular-season road games need 2-3 weeks minimum; last-minute fly-in trips can happen with 5-7 days notice depending on the destination airport partner availability.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you'd want to know before you book.
When does the Big East release the Villanova basketball road schedule?+
The full conference schedule typically drops in September, non-conference schedule announcements roll out through the summer. As soon as the road-game dates are confirmed we open alumni chapter charter booking.
What's the biggest fan-bus generator on the Villanova schedule?+
The annual St. John's game at Madison Square Garden — massive Main Line alumni turnout, MSG makes for a full night out, and the drive is only 2 hours each way. Second: Georgetown at McDonough Arena / Capital One Arena in DC.
How does NCAA Tournament fan-bus charter booking work?+
The Selection Sunday moment triggers everything. As soon as Villanova's seed and pod location are announced, we open a 72-hour booking window at a fixed rate — first come first served. Overnight trips require hotel-block coordination we handle for you.
Can students book a group charter?+
Yes — we work with Villanova student organizations, fraternity/sorority chapters, and the student booster club for road-game charters. Group leader coordinates the seat sales; we handle the transport and the return timing.
What about the Villanova football (FCS) away games?+
Villanova football plays in the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA). Road trips to Delaware, Towson, William & Mary, JMU, and New Hampshire are all overnight-eligible fan charters. Smaller fan base than basketball but very loyal — we still run 3-4 football-only charters per season.
Where does the coach park at MSG or Capital One Arena?+
MSG bus parking is coordinated through the arena's designated drop and staging zones — your chauffeur handles it. Capital One Arena and McDonough both have dedicated bus lots within 2 blocks of the arena. Your group is dropped at the door and picked up post-game curbside.
Can we combine a Big East game with dinner or a night out?+
Absolutely — a 10-12 hour charter package covers pre-game dinner, the game itself, and post-game bars/entertainment. Most common: DC dinner at a Georgetown restaurant + Hoyas game + post-game at Cap One Arena bars; NYC dinner in Midtown + MSG game + post-game at Bryant Park.
What's the alumni chapter recurring-charter setup?+
Contract for 4+ road games per season and we lock in per-trip discounted pricing, dedicated coach, dedicated driver who knows your chapter's pickup logistics, and a single point-of-contact at our dispatch.
