Rush week in Philadelphia looks different at every school, but the transportation problem is the same: you need to move 20 to 60 potential new members between chapter houses in a tight window, safely, without anyone getting lost, and with zero alcohol on the vehicle. Whether it's a fraternity IFC bid-night circuit through University City, a Panhellenic Preference-round Saturday at Villanova, or an MGC intake celebration on a Sunday afternoon, Philly Charters runs the shuttle.

We work the rush week that Uber can't handle. A dedicated mini-coach or party bus, one chauffeur for the whole day, dispatcher check-ins between stops, dry-rush policy enforced in writing. Chapter-billed to your Recruitment VP or treasurer. Insurance certificate to your Greek life office within 24 hours.

What makes rush week transportation different

  • Dry rush is non-negotiable. Every rush transportation contract we sign includes the dry-rider election, signed by the chapter president or Recruitment VP. Zero tolerance.
  • House tour circuits. 5-10 chapter houses in a single afternoon, 20-40 minutes per stop, on-schedule.
  • Bid Day standing inventory. Held for 5-day-notice bookings during recruitment weeks.
  • Weather-hardy fleet. AWD Sprinters + commercial-tire motor coaches when January turns to snow.
  • Greek life office paperwork. Insurance COI, chauffeur credentials, DOT numbers on request within 24 hours.

Fall rush timing across Philadelphia universities

  • UPenn: Fall Open Houses and Sorority Meet-and-Greets in September; Panhellenic formal recruitment is spring only. IFC rush timing varies by fraternity — many host bid nights in September and again in January.
  • Villanova: Deferred recruitment — formal Panhellenic rush is spring semester only. Informal fall recruitment is allowed for eligible chapters. Spring 2026 Recruitment ran Jan. 6–11, 2026, with Sisterhood, Philanthropy, and Preference rounds followed by Bid Day.
  • Temple University: Cherry & White Greek community — chapters run fall and spring recruitment/intake windows on chapter-specific schedules.
  • Drexel: Chapter-driven and decentralized — expect interest events, rush/intake meetings, and bid announcements on a chapter-by-chapter basis.

Philly Charters runs Bid Day pickups on 5-day notice as standing inventory during recruitment weeks. Common package: chapter facility → celebration dinner (Cescaphe Ballroom, Vie by Cescaphe, or chapter-picked restaurant) → back to chapter house or off-campus after-party. 4-hour minimum on a 40-passenger party bus is $850–$1,200 depending on route and pickup radius.

Frequently Asked — Greek Life Formals & Rush

The questions social chairs, treasurers, and chapter presidents ask us most.

When exactly is rush week in Philadelphia?+

Depends on the university and council. UPenn Panhellenic runs formal recruitment in the spring semester (typically mid-January), with fall Open Houses and Meet-and-Greets in September. Villanova uses deferred recruitment — Spring 2026 Recruitment ran Jan. 6–11. Temple's Cherry & White Greek chapters recruit both fall and spring, on chapter-specific schedules. Drexel Greek life is decentralized and chapter-driven. IFC schools also run their own separate fall or spring bid processes.

What is a house tour shuttle?+

A dedicated party bus or mini-coach that circuits 5–10 chapter houses in a single evening or Saturday afternoon during recruitment. Potential new members (PNMs) load and unload at each stop with a 20–40 minute stay per house. Shuttle stays on-schedule with dispatcher check-ins. Common for IFC fraternity rush events, MGC intake week, and Panhellenic Preference round movement between chapter facilities.

Can we do Bid Day pickup on short notice?+

Yes — Bid Day is one of our standing recruitment-week inventory holds. As little as 5 days notice on most vehicle sizes. Common route: chapter facility → celebration dinner venue → back to house, or chapter facility → hotel photo location → back.

How large should the vehicle be for a house tour?+

For fraternity house tours with 20–30 PNMs, a 25 or 32-passenger mini-coach is ideal — comfortable, easy to load/unload, and small enough to park on residential streets. For Panhellenic Preference round movement of full pledge classes (40–60 women), a 40 or 56-passenger coach is right. For MGC intake week, a party bus doubles as celebration transport at end of night.

Do you handle dry-rush requirements?+

Yes. IFC and Panhellenic recruitment is dry rush — no alcohol on the vehicle, period. Chapter president or Recruitment VP signs the dry-rider election on the transportation agreement. Chauffeur is briefed on the dry-rush policy. Zero tolerance.

What's a typical rush week timeline?+

UPenn Panhellenic spring recruitment (illustrative): Day 1 (Open House Round) — 10-house tour, 25 min per house, 9am-5pm; Day 2 (Philanthropy Round) — 8 houses; Day 3 (Sisterhood Round) — 4-5 houses; Day 4 (Preference Round) — 2 houses in evening; Bid Day — celebration pickup. We handle transportation for each round independently or as a full-week package.

How do you coordinate with the college's Greek life office?+

Our dispatch team communicates directly with the campus Fraternity & Sorority Life office when required — insurance certificates, chauffeur credentials, vehicle DOT numbers can all be provided in advance for your Recruitment VP or Greek Life office to file. We've been through this at UPenn, Villanova, Temple, and Drexel repeatedly.

What if it snows during January rush?+

We are the fallback plan when the weather turns. Our fleet includes AWD Sprinter vans and PA-DOT-inspected motor coaches with commercial snow tires. In a January snow event we've moved full sorority Preference-round groups when PNM Ubers and Lyfts were cancelling — the coaches ran.
