Why bus vs train vs cars

For groups of 10+, the bus wins on every metric except solo flexibility.

NYC by train (Amtrak): $80-150 per person + cab fare on both ends. Bus charter: roughly $30-60 per person for the same group door-to-door. DC by car: 6 cars, 6 parking fees, the inevitable late arrival. Bus charter: one departure, one arrival, the whole group together at the museum entrance. We run this math for every quote request — bus is usually 30-50% cheaper than the alternatives for groups of 15+.

Common Questions About Philly Day Trips

How early should we book a day-trip charter?
Weekday trips: 2-4 weeks ahead. Weekend trips during peak season (May-August + October weddings): 4-8 weeks. Six Flags and Hersheypark weekends fill 8-10 weeks out for the larger 56-passenger buses. Off-season weekday day trips often work inside 1 week.
What's included in the quote?
Vehicle, licensed chauffeur, fuel, standard 18% gratuity, commercial insurance, NJ Turnpike and DE Memorial tolls, and bridge tolls. The quote is fully itemized — no surprise add-ons. Driver tip ABOVE the standard 18% gratuity is optional and customary if the driver did a good job.
Can the bus stay parked at the destination all day?
Yes — that's the standard arrangement. The driver parks at the destination's bus lot (every venue we run to has one), stays available by phone for any group movements, and is ready at the agreed return time. NYC has city bus parking at meter zones that we handle as part of the trip.
Can groups drink alcohol on the bus to AC or Wildwood?
Yes for party buses and limos (BYOB allowed for 21+ groups). Standard motorcoaches (the 47-56 passenger buses) are generally non-alcohol per fleet policy — depends on the trip. We ask up front so we dispatch the right vehicle.
Do you provide a single driver or two for day trips?
Single driver for any day trip under 10 driving hours total (round trip). DC, NYC, Lancaster, Hershey, Cape May, Atlantic City — all single-driver. The 4-hour-each-way trips like Hudson Valley or Cooperstown need a two-driver team for DOT hours-of-service compliance.
School groups + corporate days

We've done every one of these routes 50+ times.

The NYC and DC runs are weekly volume. Hershey and Lancaster are weekend volume year-round. Cape May, Wildwood, and Six Flags peak May through August. We know the parking constraints at each destination, the toll booth choke points on each route, and the cleanest pickup zones. When you call, you talk to dispatch — not a national 1-800 line — and we know what the trip actually involves.
